If I Had My Life To Live Over

by Erma Bombeck
The following was written by the late Erma Bombeck
after she found out she had a fatal disease.

If I had my life to live over, I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more "I love you's".. More "I'm sorrys" ...

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute... look at it and really see it ... live it...and never give it back.

In My Own Small Way

I am not schooled in prose and verse.
I am not refined in high society and etiquette.
I am not wisened in theology, philosophy and psychology.
I am not elegant in dance, music and art.
I am not worldly in travel and diplomacy.

BUT

In my own small way
I am the comforting arms to someone who needs a hug
I am the hand that wipes away the tears of a frightened child
I am the words that soothe an aching heart
I am the hand that lifts a spoon to feed a hungry mouth
I am the hand that wraps a blanket around a cold, shivering body.
I am the mouth that sends a prayer to God for one in need of help.

In My Own Small Way, I am what YOU need me to be right now.

In My Own Small Way, I love YOU.

In My Own Small Way, I care about YOU.

In My Own Small Way, I need YOU to know that YOU are not alone.

I can do a little bit and slowly

and a little bit and slowly gradually adds up to a lot and fast

and

In My Own Small and YOUR own small way

Together WE can make a HUGE difference.

In Memory Of All Those Who Have Been Murdered in The Seychelles

Dear Lord

We pray for our beloved who have lost his/her life so cruelly.  We raise our beloved to You that he/she may be with You in Heaven. We pray that You will forgive him/her all his/her sins, cleanse him/her in the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and make him/her whole and renewed with You.
Amen

Our Father, who art in Heaven hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen

Hail Mary
Full of Grace
The Lord is with Thee
Blessed art Thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen

O my Jesus,
forgive us our sins,
save us from the fire of hell
and lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.
Amen

Holy Michael Archangel
defend us in the day of battle
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do Thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God, thrust down to hell, Satan and all wicked spirits
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen

Dear Lord,
In memory of our beloved  . . .
Eternal rest grant to him/her, O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him/her.
May he/she rest in peace.

Welcome

The purpose of this blog is to pray for The Seychelles and the Seychellois people both in the islands or fragmented and spread all over the world.  This is a place for us all to request prayers or share prayers for someone you know who needs it,even if that someone is yourself.

Sometimes we all need somewhere to turn to, to offload our pain, to share in our sorrows, to know that we are loved and appreciated. I hope that this blog will become that place for you; please feel free to place your prayer requests.  You will NOT be judged, but supported and encouraged .

Remember: Matthew 18:20 "For where two or more gather in my name, there am I with them.

The inspiration for this blog came from painful circumstances - the brutal death of a lady in Copolia, Mahe. She was then buried in her own back garden.  I have purposefully refrained from displaying this lady's name here out of respect for her family.  However, if any of her family members do not object to the displaying of her name, then please contact me and I will do so.

You are very welcome to send me your prayer requests.

Love

Michelle
